Louisiana Criminal Records
The Louisiana Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information is responsible for maintaining the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), Louisiana Computerized Criminal History System (LACCH), and criminal expungements.
The AFIS system is used to match fingerprits with criminal records and mug shots in Louisiana. The LACCH system maintains the arrest records, disposition, and incarceration information for any person who has been arrested in the state. The expungements department is responsible for processing all court ordered requests for the full or partial expungement of criminal records in the state.
Louisiana only allows for law enforcement and approved employers including schools, day cares, healthcare and medical professionals, social services, the gaming industry, and any regulatory agency to perform background checks in the state.
