Illinois Criminal Records
The Illinois State Police maintains the central repository for criminal records in the state. The Uniform Conviction Information Act, states that all Illinois criminal records must be collected and maintained by the Illinois State Police, Bureau of Identification. What is also required is that conviction information has to be made available to the public. This law permits only conviction information to be disseminated to the public.
There are two types of searches that can be performed: Fingerprint (Form #ISP6-404B) or Name-Based (Form # ISP6 - 405B). All inquiries must be submitted on an original form.

Illinois Court Records
The Illinois Court System maintains all court records in the state. If the case was filed in the last 90 days in the Supreme or Appelate Courts you can perform an online records search. Any records past 90 days are archived. You will be given the option of searching by posting date docket number or case name, or filing date.

Illinois Sex Offender Registry
The Illinois State Police (ISP) maintains the statewide Sex Offender Database which is accessible online. Persons convicted of certain sex offenses against children are required to register as a Sex Offender.

Illinois Jail Records
The Illinois Department of Corrections maintains all jail records in an online database that is accessible to the general public. You can search records by last name, IDOC number, or birth date. You will be given a list of information like: inmate's name, institution where housed, current status, identifying information, and sentencing information.
